Hello! My name is Abbie Solish and I am a doctoral student in the clinical-developmental psychology program at York University. I am looking for parents with who are interested in participating in a research study that I am conducting at York University under the supervision of Dr. Adrienne Perry. The purposes of this study are 1) to define and measure parent involvement in IBI; 2) to explore factors related to parent involvement in IBI; and 3) to examine whether parent involvement in IBI has an impact on children’s progress in therapy.

Who can participate?
We are looking for parents with children of any age with a diagnosis of autism, PDD-NOS and/or an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children must be participating in an Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) program or a program based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) either through a regional program or a private/DFO program. The intervention must take place for a minimum of 10 hours per week.

What does participation involve?
Interested parents will be sent (by mail or email depending on preference) a questionnaire called the Parent Involvement Questionnaire. This questionnaire usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes to complete.

Results of the study will be made available upon request.

If you have any questions or would be interested in participating, please feel free to contact me at: asolish@yorku.ca or 416-736-5115 ext. 40266.
